Hot Sex Hair Mode

Check out my new do. The look I wanted was "hot sex bed hair" and voila! Misssion Accomplished! Josh, my (new) stylist, created something that went way beyond my expectation, and indeed I pranced out of the salon genuinely feeling like one of those bouncin' and behavin' hair commercials. And seriously, if some cute guy had propositioned me that day, I'd be rolling in the sheets.

My new style is courtesy of the fabulous folks at Redken who did a special promo at the BlogHer 08 conference via a hookup from the wonderful Weetabix. The salon they set it up at was MNKYTHMP which is in San Francisco in the Union Square area.

MNKYTHMP Salon and Spa is totally awesome

Ladies and gents in the San Francisco area, if you are looking for a new hip stylish salon loaded with hair talent, then you MUST go to MNKYTHMP. They also have spa services so you can get things like a facial, massage, or waxing. Ask them what happened to the vowels in their name. It's an interesting story.

Best yet, the folks there are so nice and warm. They really made me feel at home. What I liked about MNKYTHMP is that the energy in there is warm and inviting and the interior looked like a hip design firm. Architecturally, they retained some of the original brick wall from the building which I love. In SF, you will rarely see real brick nowadays in buildings but you'll see plenty of faux brick because the earthquake codes have gotten so tight.

Recreating the dirty sex hair look

My challenge now is to recreate at least remotely what Josh did. Of course, I could achieve the look by actually having some real dirty sex, and when we find a new BF, then problem solved, but for now, I'll have to stick with hair products.

I have never seen anyone handle a round brush and blow dryer like Josh. It was like watching the Evel Knievel of hair products. {You can tell how much fun I had} Josh is also good at explaining the science behind hair. For example, he explained to me in scientific terms how and why highlights make your hair dry and or ratty if not done well. Fascinating! Josh's expertise is long hair, and if you want to look like walking hotness, then he's your man!

My new fave Redken products

MNKYTHMP is all about the Redken, and I was excited about this because I'm a Redken user. My favorite product is the Headset 25 extra strength finishing spray because this stuff is excellent if you have long heavy hair like mine and want something with tons of all day lasting hold that won't flake. Now, I have some new faves, the Full Frame 07 volumizing mousse, and the Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner which smells like walking by a gardenia garden on a rainy day. The flower smell is very light but very aromatherpeutic. It's heavenly.

When calling MNKYTHMP ask for Keith and tell him that Back in Skinny Jeans sent you. He'll take good care of you. Tell him what look you want to achieve and he will definitely hook you up with the best stylist for your desired outcome. Josh is my stylist and I'll definitely be going back!
